Marianna organised a great evening with a local entertainer in one of the swimming pools. We sat around the pool singing old songs. Louise and Paul wasted no time in joining the singer and soon everyone had a song to share.Louise “Grandma Feather bed” brought us back to our Nauruan days and we all sung to our hearts content.
Next day Rita organised a day trip on a sailing boat to the island where the movie Castaway with Tom Hanks was filmed. We had a great day enjoying the beach and diving on the coral reef around the island.
The rest of the days until we returned home were spent relaxing around the swimming pools and walking around the island. Some people went to the village nearby and did a spot of shopping. Miguel started playing ukulele a type of guitar typical of the Pacific Islands.
The last night at the dinner the resort staff farewell us with some lovely island songs. Miguel joined the group with his ukulele and received a standing ovation from the staff and guests for his performance.
After nine days we all left with memories that will not go away easy. We wish Rita and Jamie all the best in the future and thank everyone for the wonderful times we shared.
